Workshop 2: Analyzing Area-Level Health Indicators using Python

Join us for the 2nd workshop in this 3-part series titled Web GIS for Health Measures, taking place on Oct 23rd 2020 from 1PM - 3pm EST. This 3-part series will be cumulative, building on skills and the products you have created from the previous workshop. If you choose to join one workshop, no problem, data products will be available for you to use.

This workshop titled Analyzing Area-Level Measures Using Python will guide you through area-level aggregation of Statistics Canada’s proximity measures for a select region, and local vs global area calculations. This is a is free to participate with registration using this link. A link to a Webex video conference will be sent to your email before the event.

All participants that sign on for the live event will be entered into a draw for 1 of 6 prizes! Prizes include 4 x $100 gift certificates as well as 2 Esri press ebooks for each session (Python and Pro 2.6).

Workshop Skill Goals:

  • Introduce the ArcGIS API for Python and Python Notebooks

    • Accessing data from ArcGIS Online using the Python API

    • Inspecting data and displaying maps in a Python Notebook

    • Basic descriptive measures with Python

  • Understand area-level aggregation 

  • Learn local vs global calculations in Python

  • Create indicators for the Workshop 3 dashboard

Participation requirements:
1. Personal laptop/desktop computer
2. Internet connection
3. Pre-registered ArcGIS Online Account (Sign up through the Map & Data Library at your university institution or through the instructions here).
