Volunteer Opportunities

We are currently accepting volunteer applications for the following positions. The GeoHealth Network meets for 2 hours monthly as an entire committee. Each subcommittee meets as needed within their own operations and will be supported by the GeoHealth Network executive. The format is flexible and open to changing with the changing nature of the composition of the GeoHealth Network organizing committee member’s needs and function. These committees are open to changing based on the direction of the organizing members direction. All of our positions are volunteer based and we anticipate a monthly time commitment of 10 hours a month. This time commitment may be unevenly distributed when we host events and be concentrated leading up to an event. We respect your time and commitments as a student. GeoHealth Network is a safe place for everyone to participate and gain experience and we welcome your expression of accessibility needs to participate. Please feel welcome in your application to let us know what accommodations or changes we can make to ensure this is a safe, positive, and productive experience for yourself and our membership. We will also be spending time to review and implement accessibility accommodations recommended by the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Accessibility

The Accessibility Committee is dedicated to ensuring the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA) and any other relevant and community-based accessibility materials are reviewed and implemented across all of our web content, social media content, videos, tutorials, events and materials. Communications

The Communications Committee will be led by one executive and carried out by a team of volunteers. This committee is responsible for communicating the operations of GeoHealth Network with its members and partners including social media, website content, newsletters, graphics, posters, advertising events, emails, and more. Finance

The Finances Committee will be responsible for identifying new sources of funding and maintaining on going sources of funding. This committee will also be responsible for maintaining the GeoHealth Network budget, processing honorariums, and liaising with donors. Events

The events committee will be responsible for initiating, organizing, and executing event series throughout the academic semester. This includes our seminar and workshop style series as well as our networking and professional development style seminars. This committee will conduct stakeholder engagement to understand and implement membership needs for events. Annual Conference

The Annual Conference Committee will be dedicated to the technical and scientific planning of our annual conference. This includes securing event venues, planning online hybrid access, soliciting scientific content, organizing attendees, managing speakers, creating materials, and more. Content

The Content Committee will focus on creating scientific content within health geography to be posted on our website and shared across social media. This will be driven through stakeholder engagement with the membership and be focused on educational materials, data access options, job postings, networking opportunities, and more.
